I am not so good at CFD. (Of course I hope to be a skillful person of it someday.)
But I perform several optimization tasks using CFD, though.
Good cooperation makes it possible. I usually take part of parametric modeling and others of CFD. Then the next step is to set up the CAE pipeline on the Sesam CAESES platform.
Today, it was I and Carsten who built up a new CAE pipeline for 2D profile optimization of automobiles. Carsten Fütterer is right the skillful STARCCM+ user, the nonesuch to me especially with regard to STARCCM+ work.
The original Javamacro came form Matheus who works in CD-Adapco Nurnberg. The java sentences were really beautiful and well organized. With the reference of his java macro, I and Casten fitted it for our better usage.
The design variables we selected were :
- Angle of radiator grille.
- Maximum height
- Length of spoiler
- Angle of rear bumper.
Actually a customer of us advised that these are the main elements which effect the aerodynamic performance decisively.
This time we exported the domain and refinement volume to STARCCM+, so that STARCCM+ did nothing but meshing, calculating and post-processing.
And successful integration between CAESES and STARCCM+.
